Due to the path of Hurricane Irene, we have decided to return to Northampton early to avoid traveling in the worst parts of the storm.  The plan is to have our normal Saturday schedule including dinner and leave after dinner and cleaning up.  That will have us leaving Stratton at around 9 PM and arriving in Northampton at 11. We think this is the best course of action given the projected track and timing of the storm.

Practice as of now is still on for Monday at 5 PM.  We will send out an email if that changes.

Any upperclassmen that are planning on attending MTT but have not turned in their forms must contact Coach Kraft immediately.  We will be leaving on Thursday, August 25 at 3 PM.

Practice for the full team begins Monday, August 29.  The schedule for the first week is below.
Monday, August 29 - 5-6:45 PM - meet at the Flag Pole in front of the high school
Tuesday, August 30 - 5-7 PM - meet at the Flag Pole in front of the high school
Wednesday, August 31 - 5-7 PM - meet at the high school athletic fields
Thursday, September 1 (first day of school) - 3-5 PM - high school athletic fields
Friday, September 2 - 3-5 PM - high school athletic fields

After the first week, our practices will be from 3-5 meeting at the high school athletic fields most days.  There will be some changes in location and times through the season, but we will let you know as they come up.

Northampton has made a change in its requirements for athletes with the Impact Pre-Concussion Testing.  Athletes will now have to be tested prior to their freshman and junior years or before their first season of athletic competition at the high school.  This means that even if an athlete has taken the test before, they will have to retake it prior to their junior year. Athletes that have not taken the test will not be permitted to practice.

The first time that is scheduled for athletes to take the Impact test is Tuesday, June 21.  Cross country is scheduled for 6:50 PM for the testing at the high school.  All freshmen, juniors and any new athletes to high school sports are encouraged to take the test at this time or they will have to take it later in the summer before they are permitted to practice or attend MTT.

All MTT forms should be submitted by now.  If you have not submitted them and want to attend, contact Coach Kraft immediately.

Here is the schedule for the first week and a half of practice:

Thursday, August 26 - Upperclassmen leave from Northampton High School Stadium parking lot at 3 PM for MTT
Friday, August 27 - MTT
Saturday, August 28 - MTT
Sunday, August 29 - Return from MTT, departing Stratton at 12:00 PM
Monday, August 30 - First practice for all athletes from 5-6:30 PM.  Meet at the flag pole in front of the school
Tuesday, August 31 - Practice 5-7 PM, meet at the flag pole
Wednesday, September 1 - Practice 4-6 PM, meet down at the athletic fields. Also, at 7 PM is the parents-coaches meeting at the high school.
Thursday, September 2 - Practice 5-7 PM at the athletic fields
Friday, September 3 - Practice 5-7 PM at the athletic fields

We will continue with 5-7 PM practices until after the first meet on September 14 when practice will move to 3-5 PM.

All MTT forms must be submitted by upperclassmen to Coach Kraft by Tuesday.  We must have an accurate count of athletes attending so there is no guarantee you will be allowed to attend if you submit your forms late.  In addition, you must be cleared by Mr. Miller in order to attend.  The complete list is up on the Northampton Athletics web page.

Impact Pre-Concussion Testing has been scheduled for 4 dates/time in the upcoming week at the high school:

Wednesday, August 18 9:00-11:30 AM
Thursday, August 19 9:00-11:30 AM
Monday, August 23 10:30-11:30 AM
Wednesday, August 25 9:00-11:30 AM

It is very important that all athletes get their paperwork in to Mr. Miller immediately.  The deadline was July 23, but if you don't have your forms in yet, it is not too late.  However, in order to make sure you are cleared for the first day of practice you paperwork should be in this week.  If you still need the forms they are available here:  NHS Athletic Forms

In addition, the current eligibility list is available on the Hamp High Athletics Web Page.  Any forms that are incomplete are available in the office at the high school.

I have received a number of requests for the MTT forms so I figured it would be easiest to post them here.  Remember, all upperclassmen are allowed to go but must turn in their forms no later than August 17 to me. The check for $75 is made out to Coach Clayton.
