Brent Graham broke the school record in the javelin against Minnechaug on Monday. The Northampton Girls Track and Field team moved to 7-0 on the season with a 91-54 win over Minnechaug. The boys fell to 2-3 after Minnechaug defeated the Blue Devils 79-66. The highlight of the afternoon was Senior Brent Graham setting a new boys javelin school record after throwing 155'0". Adrienne Pascucci won three events for the girls and Leah Tompkins captured two. Sam Coates-Finke was the only multiple event winner for the Blue Devils on the boys side. Adrienne Pascucci won four events including the 100m Hurdles against Southwick and Westfield. The Northampton girls returned to action after April Vacation with wins over Southwick and Westfield. The girls scored 95 points to 49 for Westfield and 37 for Southwick. Junior Adrienne Pascucci won four events (Pole Vault, Long Jump, 100m Hurdles, 400m hurdles) and Leah Tompkins won two events (High Jump, 200m) to pace the Blue Devils. The Northampton girls moved to 2-0 on the young season with an 88-57 victory at Longmeadow. Adrienne Pascucci won all four of her events and Sophie Sharp added two wins. Sophie Sharp and the Blue Devils 4x4 ran the eighth-fastest time in school history at the New England Championships.
Closing out the indoor track and field season, the Northampton girls 4x400m relay ran 4:06.82 to place 14th at the New England Championships. The team of Adrienne Pascucci, Alex Dibrindisi, Sophie Sharp, and Mia Toffoli ran the eighth-best time in school history. Jim Sharp's Pictures

The Northampton girls track and field team had the best night in school history Friday placing second in the MIAA Division III Championship with 41 points. Hingham won the team title. Leah Tompkins was the lone individual winner as she captured the high jump in 5'2". Adrienne Pascucci was second in the event, also jumping 5'2", as the duo provided a key 18 team points in just this one event. Pascucci also captured 5th place in the 55m HH. Mia Toffoli (6th) and Alex Dibrindisi (8th) both scored individually in the 600m In the relays, the 4x400 relay team of Pascucci, Dibrindisi, Sophie Sharp and Toffoli ran away from the field to win by over 2 seconds. This is the third time in the past four years that the Blue Devils have won the 4x4 at the D3 meet. The 4x200 squad of Sharp, Tompkins, Izzy Ness and Catherine Lamond captured 4th place running 1:51.63. For the boys, Alex Sullivan was the lone individual point scorer for the Blue Devils coming in second in the 1000m to advance to the All-State Meet. The boys 4x200 team of Noah Jackson, Marcus Neverson, Ben Shulman-Reed and Willis Rayton finished 6th overall. Adrienne Pascucci set the school record while winning the 55m HH at the PVIAC Championships. She also won the high jump and ran on the winning 4x4 squad.
In close meets Friday night at Smith College the Northampton Boys and Girls teams placed second at the PVIAC Championships. The Boys scored 55 points falling just short of Amherst's 57 points. The East Longmeadow girls won the team title with 83 points as the Blue Devils scored 73 points. Individual winners for the boys were Sam Coates-Finke (2 Mile), Avi Sheldon (300m) and Alex Sullivan (1000m). Sullivan set the meet record in winning the 1000m in 2:35.57. Adrienne Pascucci won both the 55m HH and the High Jump for the girls. The boys 4x400 of Marcus Neverson, Josh Hirschman, Ben Shulman-Reed and Sheldon won the meet as did the girls 4x400 of Pascucci, Alex Dibrindisi, Sophie Sharp and Mia Toffoli. All of the Northampton relays placed in the top 3 in the meet. The boys 4x2 of Noah Jackson, R.J. Ramsden, Shulman-Reed and Willis Rayton was 2nd and the 4x8 of Neal Axelrod-Adams, Ryan Dean, Coates-Finke and Sullivan was 3rd. The girls 4x8 of Joni Sullivan, Winnie Brown, Katie Butler and Mariel Lutz placed 2nd and the 4x2 of Sharp, Leah Tompkins, Izzy Ness and Catherine Lamond captured 3rd. Ives Fisher also scored for the boys capturing 6th place in the shot put with a personal best throw. Additional scoring performances for the girls included Toffoli with a 2nd place in the 1000m, Tompkins finishing 2nd in the High Jump, Dibrindisi setting the freshman record to finish 3rd in the 600m, Lutz breaking her own freshman record to place 3rd in the Mile, and Sharp placing 6th in the long jump. In the final regular season meet of the year, the Northampton Girls closed off a third consecutive undefeated season with a 76-18 win over Holyoke. With the win, the Blue Devils won the Pioneer League title. The girls had 15 personal bests in the meet along with 12 Western Mass qualifiers, 5 D3 Qualifiers and 3 top-10 additions. The Northampton Boys won a tight meet over Holyoke, 49-46, to finish the regular season 6-3. 10 personal bests highlighted the meet for the boys along with 11 Western Mass qualifiers, 4 D3 qualifiers and 5 top-10 additions. The Boys 4x2 ran the fastest time in Western Mass and 6th fastest in school history. At the beginning of a busy weekend for the Blue Devil track and field programs, the boys and girls swept Chicopee Friday night with the boys winning 51-44 and the girls capturing a 85-10 victory. The girls had 18 personal bests, 13 Western Mass qualifiers, 3 D3 qualifiers and 4 top-10 additions. The boys posted 19 personal bests, 12 Western Mass qualifiers, 2 D3 qualifiers and 4 top-10 additions. On Saturday at the Coaches Invitational, freshmen Alex Dibrindisi easily won her heat of the 600 to place 18th - but was only .7 out of third place in the entire meet. Classmate Winnie Brown punched her ticket to the D3 meet in February in the same event, running a personal best as well as both athletes improved on their performances in the All-Time Top-10. At the MSTCA Elite Meet Sunday in Boston, Alex Sullivan placed 7th in the 1000m in a season-best time of 2:34.69. Sam Coates-Finke also competed for the boys, running the 2 mile in 10:03.45. The Northampton Girls improved to 7-0 with twin 63-22 wins over Agawam and Amherst. The boys topped Agawam 80-15, but were narrowly defeated by Amherst 48-47. The top performance of the meet was Senior Alex Sullivan shattering the PVIAC league record in the 1000m, running 2:36.53. The old record was set by Holyoke's Chris Rigali in 2002 of 2:38.3. The 4x400 team of Marcus Neverson, Josh Hirschman, Ben Shulman-Reed, and Avi Sheldon just missed the league record, running 3:37.48. Sheldon also won the 600, running 1:27.27. Event winners for the girls were Mariel Lutz (2 Mile), Adrienne Pascucci (LJ), Mia Toffoli (1000m), and Leah Tompkins (HJ). Lutz set a new freshman record in the 2 Mile, breaking the old record by 40 seconds as she ran 11:54.40. The girls had 17 Western Mass and 8 MIAA D3 Qualifiers while the boys posted 13 Western Mass and 4 MIAA D3 Qualifiers.
